ABOUT
Andrew grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA, and began playing drums at 10 years old. He got involved in various music classes like marching band, jazz band, concert band, music technology, and others where he learned various skills and various other instruments. At the same time, he had started a band with his classmates. Over the years they experimented covering various artists like Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, and other rock groups. These influences led them to label create a jam band called Sunset Drive, in which they tried to adapt the stylings of groups within that genre. As of now, they all are living together in Kent, Ohio, attending Kent State University. They play shows both in the Kent area as well in Pittsburgh PA, where they play a mix of original and covered music. He chose to study at Kent State University Stark because he wanted to better understand the process of creating music. So far in his 3 years he has completed 3 audio recording and music production classes, where he has learned microphone theory/placement on common studio instruments, proper signal flow on a mixing console/in the studio environment, and mixing and mastering practice in both ProTools and LogicProX. Also, he has taken 2 composition classes where he learns to compose for both contemporary and orchestral instruments. He has been studying drum set and percussion as well, getting a good understanding of classical percussion, contemporary auxiliary, modern drum set, and jazz studies on the Vibraphone.
No matter what avenue of music Andrew is involved in, he believes in authenticity and the rawest form of expression possible. Whatever process that gets the most emotion out of a piece of music is most important to him, and he will continue to push himself to get that result.
